An Arabic manuscript: كتاب في الفقه
Kitab fi 'l-Fiqh An interesting Mamluk manuscript because of the information supplied in the colophon about the place where it was copied is Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Sa'dallah al-Wasiti al-Shafii's Kitab fi 'l-Fiqh (MS:349.297:K62kiA), a work on Islamic jurisprudence. The manuscript might very well have been copied by the author himself at the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem in A.H.792/A.D.1390. It is a very rare occurrence for the colophon of a manuscript to supply such detailed information stating that the manuscript was completed on the evening of Thursday in the al-Aqsa Mosque on the 6th Ramadan 792. |
