- 11 - Fig. 13 Escarpment North of Lina This escarpment, with some interruptions and under various names, separates the north edge of the Dahana and Nefud from the rough limestone country to the north for many miles. The plain between the escarpment and the sand, appears to offer the only feasible eastwest pipe line route other than that shown in the "Prospectus" (Route B, Map No. 1). After the inevitable visit to the Amir of Lina, who proved very friendly and asked particularly after his old friend Mr. Steineke, and the usual coffee and other refreshments including dates and sour milk (which is good), the party drove west along the Dahana and camped for the night.
