MOST ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS TO BE MET BY
TANKERS LIFTING OIL AT SIDON TERMINAL


A. Three Days Prior to Arrival
  1. Incoming tankers must send ETA at least three (3) days before arrival at Sidon. (p. 10).

B. Two Days Prior to Arrival
  1. Read carefully Section about Sea Pollution. (p. 37). Only clean Ballast can pumped overboard at Sidon.

C. One Day Prior to Arrival
  1. Confirm ETA to Sidon by Radio 24 hours before arrival.

D. The Day of Arrival
  1. Confirm ETA to Sidon by Radio 12 hours before arrival.

  2. Company Morring Master meets icoming tanker within two (2) miles west of Sea Buoy and advises ship's personnel regarding morring and unmooring, and the raising and lowering of hoses. (p. 16).

  3. Tankers should not enter the restricted area until Mooring Master is on board. (p. 2, 3).
E. In Mooring
  1. Ship's crew performs all operations on ship. (p. 22).

  2. The Ship's Master is responsible for the safety of his own ship at all times. (p. 22).

  3. If the ship-to-shore communications fail, the emergency whistle signal is a continuous blast on ship's whistle to stop all loading. (p. 22).

  4. Ship's valves must not be closed against incoming oil stream. (p. 22).

F. Tankers to Have Ready
  1. Windlass and both bow anchors, each with not less than 10 shots of chain for tankers of 40,000 DWT or less. Details of anchor requirements for larger tankers are on p. 29.

  2. Eight suitable, best quality mooring lines, each not less than 150 fathoms in length, with efficient stoppers for each line. (p. 28).

  3. On port side opposite ship's manifold, equipment capable of lifting submarine hoses safely and expeditiously. (p. 19).
