PATCHING CREW
A maintenance and patching crew consisting of a
dump truck and three men is required for approximately each 100
kilometers of road, to repair local defects which may show up before
application of the second armor coat. This crew also places rock
riprap at culvert locations, to protect against water erosion.
SECOND ARMOR COAT AND TRAFFIC AIDS
The second armor coat will follow approximately
twelve months after the first armor coat, to give an opportunity for
traffic to expose any defects in the surface or sub-grade, and for
such defects to be repaired. Application of the second armor coat is
identical with that of the first. Traffic aids are then installed.
These consist of a center line stripe of yellow paint, special
striping to warn against passing where sight distances are limited,
curve markers for visual guidance, and warning, precautionary, and
information signs where needed.
