EXCERPTS FROM LETTER AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE SAUDI ARAB GOVERNMENT AND TRANS-
ARABIAN PIPE LINE COMPANY, DATED 24 MARCH 1963

In substitution for and satisfaction of
TAPLINE's road obligation under the para-
graphs numbered 5 of the letters dated 11
July 1947, GOVERNMENT and TAPLINE agree as
follows: |

a. |
TAPLINE will apply an asphalt surface to the existing
pipeline road paralleling its pipeline between Qaisumah and Turaif.
The work to be performed in this regard will be in accordance with the
conditions and specifications set forth in the schedule annexed
hereto. However, Tapline shell be free, if in its judgment it deems it
desirable, to alter such specifications In any respect to coordinate,
it practicable, with Highway Design Standards used by the Ministry of
Communications of Saudi Arabia* it being understood that TAPLINE shall
not as a result be required to incur any additional cost. |

b. |
GOVERNMENT will grant all facilities and assistance
necessary for the execution of the aforementioned work and for the
preservation of the road, including the following: |

GOVERNMENT undertakes, not later than I January 1964 and during
the period of performance of the work provided in subparagraph 1.a.*
hereinabove, at its expense to control vehicle loads and unit-bearing
pressures on the road surface so as to minimize wear and tear on the
