BYZANTINE PORTICO AND SHOPS. A wide public portico
(colonnaded street) paved with mosaics runs east-west along Weygand Street. Shops with mosaic floors opened onto the portico (as shown to the left) each bearing a Greek letter from A=l, closest to Souk Tawileh, to Δ=4. (AUB-British Souks excavations 94-95).
