An Arabic Manuscript:

شرح الهداية للابهري
ابن مبارك شاه، شمس الدين محمد

Sharh al-Hidaya
Ibn Mubarak Shah, Shams-ad-Din Muhammad

The provenance of a manuscript adds greatly to its value, especially if it can be traced to an imperial library. Such is the case with Shams-ad-Din Muhammad ibn Mubarak's Sharh Hidaya (MS160:I942sA). The manuscript was produced in Ottoman Turkey in the fifteenth century (AD), and bears the seal impressions of the Ottoman sultan Beyazid II (reigned 1481 - 1512) that indicates that this manuscript was in his library at some time. The sultan was an avid collector of manuscripts on various subjects in Ottoman Turkish, Persian and Arabic.
