An Arabic Manuscript:

التبر المسبوك في نصيحة الملوك والوزراء والولاة
الغزالي، ابو حامد محمد بن محمد

al-Tabr al-Masbuk fi Nasihat al-Muluk wa al-Wuzara wa al-Wulat
al-Ghazali, Abu Hamid Muhammad bin Muhammad

The [Jafet] library contains a valuable collection of manuscripts from the Mamluk period (1250-1517) in Egypt and Syria. Amongst these manuscripts is Abu Hamid Muhammad bin Muhammad al-Ghazali's al-Tabr al-Masbuk fi Nasihat al-Muluk wa al-Wuzara wa al-Wulat (MS:l72.2:G4ltbA), a manual of advice composed for rulers, ministers and governors on how they should govern their realms. The manuscript was probably produced in Egypt at the beginning of the fifteenth century. It is a fine example of a late Mamluk manuscript that can be seen in the quality of the coloured paper, the beauty of the calligraphy and the contemporary brown morocco binding.
