The Homs-Tripoli line was completed in 1911. The rails were then
removed for use elsewhere in 1917, but the line was reopened again in
1921. There are no stations as such between Tripoli and Abboudieh at
the Syrian border on Nahr al Kabir.
The Tripoli-Abboudiyeh branch closed with the demise of all traffic
on the CEL during the civil war in Lebanon, but a plan was agreed with
Syria in 2002 to refurbish and open the line to Abboudiyeh. Progress
is so far unknown.
