The route from Suez to Port Said is only about 100 statute miles in length and according to Wolfe and Chandler is undoubtedly the cheapest, though by no means necesearily the most desirable, means of bypassing the Suez Canal, despite the terminal difficulties.)

It had been intended to fly to Alexandria but the pilot had some doubt whether there was enough gasoline on board and accordingly, the plane changed its course at Ismailia (Fig. 63) and returned to Payne Field where a landing was made at 3:22 P.M.
