INITIAL SHAPING

The next step is the preparation and shaping of ditches. Using a bulldozer-ripper to dig to full ditch depth, followed by motor-graders to shape the shoulder and back slopes of the ditch,, rocky material is bladed into a berm or "windrow" on each Side of the road. This material is then crushed by a traveling windrow crusher. More water is applied and mixed with the surface material, then levelled and compacted with rollers,
