It is the second biggest city after Beirut. It is located on the coast 80 kilometers (about 50 miles) north of Beirut and about 30 kilometers south of the Lebanese north boarder with Syria. When you are coming to Tripoli from Beirut you first encounter with the city is when you reach "Tarik El-Bahsas". This road leads you to the heart of Tripoli which is "Sahet Al-Tal". (Now tehy have also built a highway which you can use to bypass El-Bahsas and reach El-Mina directly). When you reach Al-Tal, the first thing that attracts you attention is the old "Sa@a" which is a high tower in the middle of Al-Tal which used to have a clock at the top, now it is only the tower that is there. Next to the "Sa@a" is the "Minshiyyeh" which is a small park in which the old people gather to sit between the trees, the sun and some kids come with thier parents to see the small fish pond and take pictures next to it. In the "Minshiyyeh" you will surely notice a large tree called "Shajret Al-Tanabel" (the tree of the lazy people which was called so because all the lazy people in its neighbourhood would leave their work and come to take a nap under it).It is a really old tree about 100 years old (from the days of the "Othmans"). Next to the "Minshiyyeh" you can hear the shouting of taxi drivers who are willing to take you anywhere you want (To inside Tripolim, to Beirut, Al-biqa@, Al-Koura, @akkar, Zghorta, Syria and all other places). You can also find some "@arabiyyta Khail" (Horse carriages) which can take you on a romantic ride from Al-Tal to the Harbor in "Al-Mina" and back. If you go through Al-Tal you will reach the Historical "Aswak" which I hope to talk about in a next episode. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Till the next episode, Salam ya Jama@a.
