Mayor met with Hariri and Edde and discussed the downtown operations. Mayor presented a Unesco grant of 2.5 M$ to Edde as a contribution to the archeological work. At Solidere's offices, Nasser Shammaa then presented to Mayor the reconstruction plan and emphasized the importance given by the government on the preservation of the history of Beirut and, at the same time, on its future role. The general Director then presented Shammaa with a medal as a recognition of the efforts made by Solidere to reconstruct Beirut. ....." Thus, Unesco is not simply happy with what happened, it is EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH EVERYTHING. No error has been made. Nothing to correct. Outstanding performance. This is a local newpaper reporting on the inadvertent destruction, by a bullodzer, of the remains of a 350 year old jesuit house....
