MARINE CRAFT The marine fleet comprises four 120 HP motor launches and one self-propelled barge "Sandra". One of the mooring launches is fitted with diving equipment and another with equipment to combat oil pollution. A 400 HP 52 ft. stool mooring launch is under construction in replacement of one of the above launches. It is scheduled for completion by the end of October, 1069. This launch will carry oil dispersant equipment and a fire fighting monitor. TERMINAL IMPROVEMENT SCHEME 1. The Project for the installation of remote indication of tank levels, the remote control of loading valves and the automatic blending of Kirkuk/Ain-Zalah crude, using four 425 H.P. pumps driven by electric motors, was completed in July of 1960. This has improved operational facilities to the extent that it is now possible to : a) Release more storage tanks and berths to maximise Kirkuk crude liftings. b) Allow Ain-Zalah crude loading by either in line blending or neat, if required, at a maximum rate of 4,000 tons per hour. c) Provide operating advantages in remote guaging and valve control. 2. Higher loading rates (up to a maximum of 7,000 tons per hour) are expected when a 32" header is instilled at the foreshore manifold. This is being done. 9 extra valve actuators will be provided at thin manifold and 4 old inefficient ones will be changed by mid 1969.
