The terrain along the "Prospectus" pipe line route was found in general to be good, as the pictures indicate, although somewhat more broken and irregular than the flat limestone plains east of Jumaima, or the gravel plains east of Wadi Es Shima. In this area there is some Eocene limestone as well as the Miocene. The following day, Sunday, the party proceeded to the Duwaid landing strip, about 10 kilometers north of the proposed Duwaid air field, which the United States Army started to build and then abandoned. The buildings for the Army airport were left in a partially completed state and the runway incomplete and unseable.
