LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF SIDON TERMINAL
A. Location
Sidon Terminal is an open, unsheltered roadstead. The radio beacon
tower of the Terminal is located at Lat. 33°-30'-04" N and Long.
35°-20'-31" E and is situated on shore immediatly north of the
Zahrani River, about 5 miles south of the city of Sidon (Saida),
Lebanon. It is approximately 35 miles south of Beirut, and 17 miles
north of Tyre.
B. Description
The Terminal's Tank Farm consists of 23 storage tanks and is
situated east of the Terminal at 360 feet (average) above sea level.
The Marine and Administrative offices, a Laboratory for testing
stocks, three large and three small storage tanks are all located
within an area just above sea level. An "L" shaped pier for harboring
Company's marine craft extends approximately 1,000 feet from shore
near the southern end of the berthing area. South of the teminal is
located the Mediterranean Refining Company. (See Landmarks p.
